Legend of Demongroar

There was this small farm which was breeding Growlithe. But there was one Growlithe that would turn out to be a very special Pokémon. This Growlithe was known on the farm as the most gentile and loving Growlithe that would never harm anything else. The problem was, it was so kind that it wouldn’t attack in battle and wouldn’t attack any other people. So trainers and police officers never adopted this Growlithe. The owners of the farm realised that he wouldn’t make any profit and they released it in the wild. But the Growlithe soon returned to the farm, since it was very loyal to the owners. Seeing that cute face, they then decided to keep it as company. Some time later, the breeders got a pack of wild Growlithe who were violating nearby houses. Their job was to make them obedient again. But our poor Growlithe didn’t know any better and tried to become friends with them and wanted to play with them, but the violent Growlithe pack started to attack him and it got badly injured. After recovery, it still tried to play with them, getting attacked and hurt every time again. The owners of the farm tried to make it clear that they’re violent and that it shouldn’t play with them. But when they saw that it didn’t help, they took the Growlithe to the woods and tied it to a tree so that it couldn’t come back and be attacked again. They left food and water for a couple of days and hoped that they could make the other Growlithe obedient so that this one could return. Growlithe itself didn’t understand why they would do all this and was so sad that it didn’t try to get loose. Meanwhile, the owners tried all they could to make the other Growlithe less violent and obedient, but in one of their tries, they escaped. They ran to the woods, where our Growlithe was. Immediately when they saw it, they started to attack it. But this time, something had changed with our Growlithe. This time he started to attack as well. He was so furious and he almost killed the other Growlithe but the start of an evolution stopped him. It evolved into an Arcanine, but when it did, it seemed like it was in pain. The Arcanine ran deeper into the woods and entered a cave. There, something weird happened. Arcanine was roaring out of pain for more than 5 days. The owners could hear it and couldn’t even sleep. They decided to check out the woods for the sweet Growlithe, but they only found the wounded pack of Growlithe. They followed the tracks of an Arcanine, thinking that an Arcanine rescued the Growlithe from the pack. But when they went deeper into the forest, they saw the entrance of a cave and a Pokémon. It looked like an Arcanine, but it was different. It had much larger fangs, the normally orange was bloodred, it ha black horns and the eyes were the most scary ones that they saw. Then suddenly, the weird Pokémon had seen them and roared fiercely towards it. When it did, the white fur turned into flames and made the Pokémon as scary as hell. The owners ran away. Back home, one of the owners could swear that it looked like something from the history books and went to the library. And there it found a picture from an Ancient Arcanine. It looked just like the Pokémon that they saw. There was a name written by it: Demongroar.

Ancient Arcanine:
They used to live up north and in the mountains where there’s snow and ice. They were resistant to the coldness of the snow and the ice and also against any Ice-type moves from other Pokémon. They hunted mostly on ice-type Pokémon and because Ice is weak against Fire, they were very successful.
What looks concern, they were red with black stripes and white fur. When they hunt, they lie in the snow and use their tail to cover the red of their body. The white fur can turn into flames when it’s angry, when it wants to scare off another Pokémon and when it uses Fire-type moves. Beneath their paws, small flames can be seen when it runs over ice or snow, used to melt the surroundings for an easy passage and have a good grip on the ground. They have large fangs to cut through any ice and to pierce the thick skin of the Ice-type pray and horns to headbutt trees.

But other Pokémon started to inhabit the north and hunted the same pray. Also Ground-type Pokémon started to live up north and the Ancient Arcanine were no match against them (Fire is weak against Ground) when they tried hunting them. Due to a lack of food, they went south to search for new pray. Staying away from the north, the fangs slowly started to go away in evolution, they were no longer necessary. Also the red fur changed into orange, they didn’t have the snow to hide in and had to blend more into the new surroundings. The fur didn’t turn into fire anymore and there weren’t any flames under their paws anymore, since that would always start a fire on the plains and in the woods. Also later when men started to domesticate the Arcanine, they chose the less scary ones to breed: small fangs, no horns and a good orange colour were preferred. All that until now, how we know the Arcanine. But some say that there is still a dormant gene in the Arcanine that contains the code for the characteristics of the Ancient Arcanine, in case they would go back to the north.

And this dormant gene is what changed the Growlithe into the Ancient Arcanine. It is probably activated by the change thanks to the pack of violent Growlithe.

I thought of sending this in for Esepibe's contest, but I have another legend coming up ^^
